12 Stars Snubbed For Brazil's World Cup Squad

Brazil manager Tite has announced his 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but he snubbed as many as 12 of the country's biggest stars.

The Selecao coach announced his squad for the tournament in Russia on Monday, opting to select just 23 names instead of a provisional squad, despite the deadline for the final World Cup squads being 4 June

However, Tite seems to have already settled on his preferred players, having announced 15 of his 23 players in February already.

Having to choose from a country filled with world-class talent, Tite had a few tough calls to make and opted to leave players such as Juventus left-back Alex Sandro and AS Monaco all-rounder Fabinho at home.

Chelsea's David Luiz was also not included in the squad after struggling for game time under Antonio Conte this season.

In fact, only six players from Brazil's 2014 FIFA World Cup squad – Thiago Silva, Marcelo, Fernandinho, Paulinho, Neymar, and Willian – were once again called up by the five-time world champions.

Other Selecao stars who will have to watch the World Cup from home include Ligue 1 sensation Malcolm and new FC Barcelona signing Arthur.

Brazil has been drawn in Group E alongside Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia, and will start their World Cup campaign on 17 June against the Swiss.
